Guinness Storehouse

Guinness Storehouse:
On Friday afternoon a large group of us used our bus pass and went to the Guinness Storehouse. The Storehouse is filled with seven floors of Guinness history. The first floor details which ingredients are used in making Guinness. They had a sandbox filled with barley, several windows showing vines of hops, and the most important ingredient they use in Guinness – WATER. There was an amazing waterfall in the center of the factory. As we moved on we learned about the history of Arthur Guinness, the founder, and how he was able to start the company and build into a successful brewery. On the third floor, there were posters from all of Guinness’ marketing and advertising campaigns. My favorite is the picture of the toucan saying, “Guinness is good for you.” Over the years they have had to change their advertising strategies because of the high rate of alcoholism in Ireland. Next, the group went to the tasting studio where we were given instruction on what flavors to look for when tasting Guinness. After the tasting, we enrolled ourselves in the Guinness Academy where we learned how to pour a perfect pint of Guinness. Did you know that it takes 119.5 seconds to pour a perfect pint? Lastly, we went to the Europa Bar, which is on the seventh floor of the factory and has panoramic views of the entire city of Dublin. It was probably the coolest room I had ever been in. All in all, the entire factory was awesome and speaking on behalf of the group we had an amazing time!
