Today we woke up early in the beautiful city of Killarney, ate a quick breakfast and got right on the road.
Tom wasted no time in the bustling city and drove us right back into the countryside of Ireland; the real Ireland. After traveling through a few small villages and past some babbling creeks in the valley beneath the largest mountain in Ireland (Carrauntoohil) we drove right up into the mountains and onto the Ring of Kerry. All along the ring we beheld magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and even more sights of lush mountainsides and valleys stopping only to take advantage of the spectacular scenery by snapping a few pictures.
After a small lunch we continued on our trip around the ring and up into the Killarney National Park. A few of us stopped to tour the Muckross House while the others traveled the short distance back to city. After arriving back at the hotel we had a few hours that we used to explore Killarney, be it through long walks through the Killarney National Park or a shopping spree, then we met back at the hotel for a quick class.
In class we discussed the works of Irish poet Nuala NĂ Dhomhnaill then went back out into the city to enjoy some more Irish culture and experience the holiday known as Women's Christmas with some delightful live local music.
