Rathbaun Farm
Our first full day in Galway was definitely a busy one. We started off with a scavenger hunt around the city, taking pictures of famous sites and asking locals for directions. Once we got a feel of the town we’d be spending the next three nights in, we were off the Rathbaun Farm for a tour, live music, and delicious homemade food. The farm was nothing like I expected because it was so different than an American farm. Rathbaun Farm had one thing: a lot of sheep. We got to walk around the barn and see some of the pregnant sheep, and I even got to hold a lamb that had been born the night before. Then we got to watch the sheep dog, Ted, round up all the sheep in the pasture. Once the tour was over, we were all invited for a dinner of “bacon and cabbage”, which, by the way, is not the same bacon and cabbage you’d find in the US. While we ate, there was a wonderful musician who played traditional songs and we even got to hear SJ, Ryan, and Emily show off their musical talents. It was definitely one of the most interesting days in Ireland, and it gave our group a chance to experience Ireland from a different perspective.
