Kylemore Abbey

I was mesmerized by the class’ visit to Kylemore Abbey. Seeing Kylemore Abbey was particularly rewarding for me because I had compiled a travel guide page for this majestic castle. Before we reached Kylemore Abbey, I got the chance to share my research findings of the castle, providing the necessary historical facts and background so my colleagues could get a preview of one of Ireland’s tourist attractions.

Walking around the castle brought my research to life because I got the chance to see in-person what Mitchell Henry had built for his wife when he originally constructed the castle in 1871. It was captivating to also see the monastery that Irish Benedict nuns had taught Catholic girls for over 90 years, before the school closed in 2010. Touring and taking photos at Kylemore Abbey with my friends made the trip all the more memorable. Sightseeing Kylemore Abbey will be an experience at Ireland that I will cherish, particularly when I reminisce about my favorite academic moments from the trip.
