Read Alert: Employee Assistance Program (E.A.P) for another variation of the same scam. Most phishing scams have several variations of the same request. Remember to always be vigilant when receiving unsolicited offers.

This is a phishing email appearing to be from Elon University. The email lures the recipient with the promise of financial assistance for those who have experienced hardships related to COVID-19. Recipients are directed to a malicious link to apply for assistance; the link goes to a form requesting personal information (screenshots below for reference). Delete this email and do not click on the link. If you have already submitted the form, immediately reset your Elon Account password and alert the Technology Service Desk at (336) 278-5200.

Always be vigilant when receiving unsolicited offers. Even if you think the offer is legitimate, find a way to contact the sender without using the email or contact information provided to verify its legitimacy. Promptly delete the email if you feel it is not legitimate. Visit the Information Security website to learn more about recognizing phishing scams.

In response to the current hardship in the community due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Elon University will be granting cash assistance to individuals/personnel’s (Including, Employees, Students, Alumni, Non-Employees, and others) to get through these hard times.

Elon University Support Program provides $2,300 in assistance to eligible individuals/personnel’s who are experiencing financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic, starting from today, Monday, July 5, 2021.

Visit the COVID-19 Benefits page and follow all instructions carefully and enter the most appropriate details to successfully register.
