The item that I made was a small soccer ball. I made this because soccer is something that I have always loved throughout my life. I have been playing the sport since I was about three years old and I still play here at school. It has been a huge part of my life and has been a getaway for me since I was young. When we were in Cairns, we met a boy named Charlie at the pool. He was a very shy kid, but he was very nice and was lingering around us quietly as we were relaxing. Over a bit of time, I started talking to him. I asked him where he was from, what he loved to do, and what he was interested in. I found out that he was from the Sydney area. He was on vacation in Cairns and he said that he had already gone to the Great Barrier Reef as well. He said that he saw a shark as well. When I asked him if he played any sports, he said that he liked to play soccer. I was surprised since I had assumed he would have played rugby or cricket, but I was happy to hear he enjoyed soccer. I was lucky that I had my bag with me with my object. He was about to leave to go back to Sydney, but before he left I decided that I wanted to give him my object. I thought that since he enjoyed soccer, he would like to have a soccer ball. I also thought that since he was young (maybe 8), it would be nice for him to remember people that he met in Cairns along with all the experiences he enjoyed with his family. I did not get a picture with him. His mother was not with him, and I was a little uncomfortable taking a picture with him without her permission since he was young. However, he was very excited to receive my object and told me he would keep it on his desk in his room. This was a very cool experience. I thought that I would not meet someone that I would make a connection with enough to share my object with, but I was wrong. Charlie was very kind and enjoyed soccer as much as I did. It was also comforting to know that this was something that he could keep as he grew up to remember me and my friends by, and a story he could tell to others when they ask why he has it.
Welcome
