Exam #1 Summary

For this exam I aimed to convince Cheryl Boone Isaacs that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should make humor more of a priority when determining Academy Award winners. I claimed that the Academy Awards under acknowledge the importance of laughter in arts. By highlighting the humor in “Litany” by Billy Collins, “The Clouds” by Aristophanes, “Confessions Part III” by Weird Al, and “Still Life with Chair Caning” by Picasso, I aimed to demonstrate the large contribution laughter brings to the arts. Being able to recognize this art is important to live a happy, high quality life.
