F is for friendship.

Evey Hammond: Who are you?
V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask.
Evey Hammond: Well I can see that.
V: Of course you can. I’m not questioning your powers of observation; I’m merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Evey Hammond: Oh. Right.
V: But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace sobriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona.
V: Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

Evey Hammond: Are you, like, a crazy person?
V: I am quite sure they will say so.

This quote comes in the beginning of the film, right after V saves a young woman named Evey from getting raped by the Fingermen, the British government’s secret police force. This scene and conversation between V and Evey is essential the very beginning of their friendship. Here, Evey asks V who he is and Evey gets a glimpse of what she is in for.

After this conversation, V takes Evey into his hidden house known as the Shadow Gallery and tells her about his past and she agrees to help V bring down the British government for their evil acts they have committed. Right here is where they start to become allies and friends. Evey gets captured and thrown in jail, and will be released if she gives up information about V’s whereabouts. Evey does not give any information to the man in charge of the V investigation. She is even told that she will be executed immediately if she doesn’t give up any information. Here, Evey shows her loyalty and their true friendship is on display.

V leaves it up to Evey whether or not to destroy Parliament with the train. I believe that her decision is based upon their friendship, and ultimately she decides to send the train on its way. Although V said he was unfit for the decision, Evey knew that was what he wanted to do, and Evey followed her friend’s views and ultimately destroyed the corrupt Parliament.

yes I agree, the friendship that V and Evey formed really shaped the movie. It also helped V’s character develop more because of the friendship that he had with Evey that eventually formed to love and thats where he changed as a character at the end.

I agree that friendship plays a large role in V for Vendetta. I like your quote as well. I also like how you connect the scene on the train with friendship and how Vs idea differs from hers. solid post

I agree here that V and Eveys friendship is an essential part of this movie. V saying Evey from getting raped, and Evey saving V in more ways then one throughout the movie such as not revealing Vs plan to any law enforcement even if that means losing her life is a type of friendship that is so powerful in so many ways.

Mr. Bruno, friendship is a great way to describe their relationship. Loyalty would also be a great word because both of them are extremely loyal to each other. Evey, to defend him and eventually return; V for making Evey strong and actually saving her life. Mr. Bruno nice post.

Friendship is a theme that is seen throughout the movie. Sharing common views and morals are what drive their friendship to be so strong.

F for friendship is a great choice for whats between V and Evey. I think its amazing how a friend ship could come out of all of the things that V was doing, but evey saw what he was doing and the amount of times that he saved her life. Its a great example.
