Today in class when we talked about characters fitting into the description of a hero, one particular came to mind. I believe Iron Man could not be more of a typical hero. His hubris or pride is through the roof, and at times he has even been called a narcissist, and this can be considered a hamartia for him. He often lets his ego and stubbornness affect how he handles things. His main hamartia is his energy source for life. In the place of his heart, Iron Man lives off his own invention to supply him with energy, and without it he will die.
Through his monomyth he is often incline to do things on his own; in the story of The Avengers he has a catharsis or a moment that changes him. He realizes that he needs the help of others and can be a leader and work with his foils and teammates to solves the problem.
