Semana Santa con la Familia!

For Semana Santa (Holy Week) I was lucky enough to have my family come over and visit me! We had a great time traveling around Andalucia and in Toledo.
Our first stop was in Gibraltar where we went to the top of the Rock of Gibraltar and hiked down the Mediterranean Steps.

We then went to Arcos de la Frontera which is a small town build on the side of a cliff. Here is Dad literally hanging of the cliff.
From Arcos we drove to Grazalema where we had rented an apartment. Grazalema is one of the Pueblos Blancos (white towns) and is beautifully set in the mountains of Andalucia.
Our apartment had a fireplace and we loved sitting in front of the fire at night! Highlight of the trip right there.
This is Zahara, another of the Pueblos Blancos near Grazalema.
After Grazalema we spent a morning in Ronda. It is famous for its huge stone bridge that is almost 400ft tall.
¡Qué guapa!
We then spent two nights in Granada where we got to see La Alhambra by night! Kate and I also spent a lovely night going around to different tapas bars and taking advantage of the delicious tapas!
We also encountered many a procession in Granada. The streets were mobbed, the costumes were scary, and it wasn’t our favorite part. But it was pretty cool to experience.

On our way back to Toledo we stopped in Consuegra, a small town in the middle of Castilla la Mancha, to see the windmills. I had been there before, but it was great to go back because it is so gorgeous!

Father and son in Toledo!
My host family graciously invited my family to come over for dinner, and it was great to have them all meet each other. They all enjoyed each other’s company and I loved it.

It was great to be able to show my family around the country that I am calling home for these few months. We shared many delicious meals and laughs, and loved sleeping in on more than one occasion. They adjusted to the Spanish lifestyle greatly!
