Greece Update January 8th

Jan 8, 12: Crete is known for her beautiful landscape, pottery, fine olive oil, and tough sons of Crete who put up a fierce resistance against the German paratrooper invasion during WWII. The pottery workshop in the village of Margarites at the foot of Mt. Ida (where Zeus was brought up) is one of the very few which still use ancient techniques to make pithoi (gigantic clay jars). Addie had gotten her raincoat on, and was ready for some mud-throwing motion! (photo)

In an olive oil factory near Chania, we tasted some of the best extra virgin olive oil in the world with freshly baked bread. The answer to the serious look on our faces lies in the two plates in the front: with or without lemon juice? (photo)

You must try and decide yourself!
