Richmond JOLT Writing Competition

On behalf of the entire Editorial Board and Staff of the Richmond Journal of Law & Technology, it is our pleasure to announce that submissions for the Student Law and Technology Writing Competition with the Rick Klau Prize are now being accepted.

The Richmond Journal of Law & Technology, the first law review in the world to be published exclusively online, holds a biennial national writing competition to highlight important and emerging legal issues in the field of law and technology.  From receipt of this letter until midnight on Friday, March 31, 2017, students from all law schools in the United States have the opportunity to submit articles, case notes, essays, and commentary to the Journal for possible publication and cash prizes!  The submissions must focus on topics at the intersection of technology and the law and must be directed to the Journal via e-mail to jolt@richmond.edu.  Each submission must include the completed entry form and must conform to the submission guidelines.  Both the entry form and the submission guidelines have been attached to this e-mail and will also be available on the Journal‘s website at http://jolt.richmond.edu.

The first place winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of $1,250 and have the opportunity to be published in a future issue of the Journal.  In addition, the second place winner will receive a cash prize of $750.  Lastly, the first place winner from the University of Richmond will receive a cash prize of $200.  These cash prizes will attract the best and most unique articles. It is our hope that you will help the Journal advertise this excellent opportunity to your students.

Please find the poster advertising this year’s competition enclosed.  We ask you to display this poster at your law school in a central location, and mention the competition in any relevant newsletters or notice boards.  Also, please notify your faculty of this competition and encourage your faculty to recommend this writing competition to students.

If you have any questions about the competition, please contact Brandon Bybee, the Journal’s Editor-in-Chief, by e-mail at brandon.bybee@richmond.edu.  You may also find additional details about this competition on the Journal’s website at http://jolt.richmond.edu.
