ENG 215: Introduction to Professional Writing and Rhetoric

This upcoming fall, ENG 215: Introduction to Professional Writing and Rhetoric is being taught my Dr. Jessie Moore. This introductory class, required for both PWR majors and PWS minors is intended to introduce students to the study and practice of professional writing from the perspective of rhetoric. In this course, students will explore topics such as user-centered design and organizationally-situated action in relation to writing for professional contexts. ENG 215 is project based, so understanding of ideas and concepts is tested by putting these ideas and concepts into action through hands-on experiences. Last year, students taught each other how to use features of design software, wrote recommendation reports for organizations that wanted to update their websites, and designed resumes they could use to apply for internships and jobs.
