The pathway to success is now covered in bricks!

The center of the Earth can’t be too far off! Kidding, of course, but construction crews are making great progress preparing for Dwight C. Schar Hall’s foundation.
That hole will be home to the 250-seat Turner Theatre, a showcase for student productions, feature films and campus events. Keep on digging, mini excavator!
While out on campus Saturday night, President Lambert – known as HeadPhoenix on Twitter – updated his 6,000-plus social media followers on the communications expansion.
Fifty percent of me thinks it would be great to be behind the wheel of these machines. The other 50 percent knows better and realizes I’d be terrified.
As crews prepare for the foundation of our new facility, the pile of removed dirt grows higher and higher.
While we are anxious for fall 2016 and the opening of Schar Hall, we won’t have to wait nearly as long for new and improved walkways to McEwen Communications Building.

Whether you’re carrying in the groceries or constructing a 45,000-square-foot facility, the old adage “Many hands make light work” proves true.
Just three days after the Fourth of July and Schar Hall’s foundation is already starting to take shape.

Construction is underway on the School of Communications expansion! This photo shows an emerging hole in the ground that will become a state-of-the-art building atop what once was a parking lot. That’s Long Building in the distance and Whitley Auditorium on the far left. Shortly after the 2015 Commencement, crews put up a green construction fence and prepped the site for the expansion project. If all goes well with the construction timetable, our students will enter the new facilities as well as a renovated McEwen in time for fall 2016 classes.
