ART: Can’t live with it…Can’t live without it!

Before this particular class, I have never really studied art other than your usual elementary art classes where making Thanksgiving turkey’s from your hand was advanced. However, after expanding my knowledge of the history of art work and our predicessors I have come to the realization that our lives are nothing without art. Our textbook Why Is That Art?, covers the four major aesthetics of art: realism, expressionism, formalism, and post modern art. Studying these four different forms of art lead me to a very simple conclusion, they are all the same. Yes, each category of art can be labeled differently but at the end of the day they all do the same thing which is visually express unseen  inner ideas and emotions. That is my definition of art. With that being said, everything is art. Why? Well, everything that is physical comes from thought and then has to be developed into an artistic design. Including chairs, desk, televisions even the car you drive. Therefore, it is imperative that we (as interactive media students) have a firm understanding of the artist and artistic movement covered in the text book because we will be using art in everything we do. So, staying relevant in the art world would benefit our knowledge on the topic and the work we deliver to the public.
