Expectations

I think my biggest expectation prior to the first day of class was that we were going to learn about the basics of design and layouts. I thought that the class would expand upon the skills that we learned about Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign in bootcamp.

Then I opened Why is this Art? textbook.

Now my expectation is that we are going to start from the historical context of art. Build a foundation on the classics and work our way up to how these early concepts of art can be applied to digital layouts and making them beautiful. I do think that this foundation will be useful but I’m still unsure how we’ll able to apply this knowledge to design.
