What is WebEx?

webexWebEx is a web conferencing service that allows faculty, staff, and students to collaborate with anyone through impromptu and scheduled meetings. WebEx also provides tools for faculty and staff to host virtual events or hold class during inclement weather.

While you may already be familiar with tools like Skype for web conferencing, WebEx is browser-based and does not require any special software. It also offers additional features such as:

  • A personal meeting room with a consistent URL
  • The ability to schedule meetings through Outlook
  • An option to record and share your meeting or event
  • The ability to hear and see multiple people (up to 1,000)
  • An option to share your screen, documents and applications

Ways to Use WebEx

WebEx can be used to connect with others in a variety of ways, such as:

  • Meeting anywhere, anytime, on any device (with an internet connection)
