Have you ever sent an e-mail that you shouldn’t have?Maybe it was to the wrong person or it contained some terrible typo, but you already pressed that Send button.Don’t pull your hair out or click the plug out of the wall, there is an easy way to unsend messages that you have sent in Microsoft Outlook.

Recalling and Replacing a message in Microsoft Outlook

Note:You can recall or replace a message only if you are using Microsoft Outlook and its recipient is logged on, using Microsoft Outlook, and has not read the message or moved it from their Inbox.

1. Click Mail in the Navigation Pane.
2. Click Sent Items.

3. Open the message you want to recall or replace.

4. In the message window, on the Other Actions menu, click Recall This Message.

From here, you have two options. You can either recall the message completely or replace it with another e-mail.To recall the message:

  1. Click Delete unread copies of this message.
  2. To be notified about the success of the recall or replacement for each recipient, select the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient check box.

To replace the message with a different e-mail:

  1. Click Delete unread copies and replace with a new message.
  2. To be notified about the success of the recall or replacement for each recipient, select the Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient check box.
  3. Click OK, and then type a new message.

To replace a message, you must send a new one. If you do not send the new itemthe original message is still recalled.

So don’t worry, just because you hit Send does not mean it is set in stone.Hopefully this will save you some stress when composing your next e-mail.

Until next week,
