Mr. Brandon Gregory Bell joined the Elon community as a two-time graduate and employee of UNC Wilmington in June of 2017. Serving as one of the Assistant Directors of the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education, Brandon is excited to aid Elon in its unprecedented commitment to diversity and inclusion as advocate, coach, and educator to faculty, staff, students and alumni. Originally from Clinton, NC, Brandon is an avid singer, gardener, and comic book reader. Brandon enjoys the company of friends on the weekend, craft beer and Sunday conversations with his grandmother.
Following a performance by Elon’s gospel choir, Brandon explains the role that music has played in his own life, and how it has been an outlet of expression and means of understanding the world. Brandon goes on to share his interest in equity, inclusion and social change which was inspired by some of his favorite books. He also reflects on his work at Elon’s cultural center, and the links he has found between resilience and change in relation to social justice and the pursuit of equity. Explaining these links in his personal life, along with the growth of Elon as an institution, Brandon touches on the importance of social justice on an individual and community level.
