The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Departments of Anthropology, Geography and Earth Sciences, Psychological Science, and Sociology are partnering to hire four faculty members who specialize in the social and cultural factors related to community health, health disparities, and/or health outcomes among diverse populations. Recruitment will be conducted in two stages. We immediately seek a senior faculty member to begin August 2018. This position will reside in one of the four departments. In the second stage, to be conducted during the 2018-19 academic year, the three remaining departments will each hire an Assistant Professor to begin August 2019. Requirements for this position include 1) a Ph.D. in Anthropology, Geography and Earth Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field; 2) a strong research agenda focusing on the social or cultural aspects of community health, health disparities, and/or health outcomes; 3) a robust record of securing external funding; 4) a strong record of working in interdisciplinary teams; 5) a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching; and 6) a demonstrated ability to engage students in a diverse academic environment.
Finalists will be asked during their screening interview to discuss how they address diversity and inclusion while teaching and conducting research.
