Develops and directs co-curricular programs with educational curricula; offers events and workshops that increase and deepen opportunities for students to learn from and about engaged experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, implement and assess co-curricular community-based learning (CBL) programs that integrate community-based work and sustained, structured learning.
- Develop and manage the Community Engaged Scholar program, to include but not limited to: recruitment and outreach, managing program events, regularly reviewing and responding to reflections, check-ins and advising, and final portfolio review.
- Develop and manage a Bonner program, to include but not limited to: co-developing and assessing internships with community partners, recruitment and outreach, supervising Bonner interns, developing and leading a year-long, cohort-based curriculum for Bonner interns, and managing all other program events.
- Manage the Public Achievement program, to include but not limited to: recruitment and outreach; hiring, training, and supervising Coaches, Team Leads, and Interns; and supervising operations at each site.
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships with community-based organizations with whom co-curricular CBL programs and initiatives work.
- Develop, coordinate, and advise an Alternative Breaks program that integrates service trips with structured learning opportunities; recruit, train, and supervise all student and/or staff trip leaders, and develop and assess reflection and curriculum for trips.
- Increase and deepen opportunities for students to learn from and about engaged experience by offering and promoting educational and reflective events and workshops in collaboration with campus and community stakeholders.
- Collaborate with CC faculty on programs and events, drawing on faculty expertise to deepen content.
- Supervise student interns that provide support to CCE educational programming and alternative breaks program.
- Oversee co-curricular student programs and initiatives during summer months, to include but not limited to the CC Farm.
- Participate in programs and ensure all co-curricular CBL programs and initiatives comply to CCE risk management protocol.
- Manage budgets and logistical support for all co-curricular CBL programs and initiatives.
- Contribute to public relations efforts to showcase the CCE and community-engaged work at Colorado College.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in related discipline, plus 2 years of professional experience implementing educational or reflection programming within community engagement or service-learning programs or courses, including 1 year of experience working in or with community based organizations; knowledge of principles of community-based learning and/or service-learning as well as broad knowledge of social/environmental issues; productive time management; group facilitation and curriculum planning skills; proficient MS Office and Outlook; budget management/analytical skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; excellent organizational, collaboration and customer service skills; ability to work autonomously and self-directed, and take initiative; ability to operate standard office equipment; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
College-level teaching experience; experience supervising student employees; knowledge of principles of student development.
