Coordinator of Engaged Student Programs, Colorado College

The Coordinator of Engaged Student Programs assists in the development of student civic leadership skills by supporting opportunities to engage in community-based partnerships; facilitates student leadership development and provides guidance and support for student-led, ongoing community engagement initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES ( denotes essential/primary responsibilities, o denotes secondary responsibilities)

 

  • Advise and oversee (including logistical support, risk management and budget monitoring) approximately 15 student-led community engaged initiatives.
  • Supervise student volunteers and employees who provide support for the CCE’s student-led, ongoing community-based partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Youth & Education Program Coordinator to provide leadership development programming and structures to the leaders of all CCE student organizations.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of CCE expectations for student organizations, to include office protocols and systems, engagement in programming, and community partnership best practices.
  • Develop and implement training and reflection experiences for student-run community engaged initiatives, as well as trainings for Community Engaged Scholars in accordance with the strategic vision of the program.
  • Promote student political engagement, to include representation on the campus-wide CC Votes committee.
  • Maintain, strengthen, and develop partnerships with community-based organizations that student-led ongoing initiatives work with.
  • Work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Work with the Director, Assistant Director, and other staff of the CCE, as well as other offices and departments on campus, students and community partners to develop new community engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and program assessment.
  • Support Collaborative special events and seasonal initiatives as necessary.
  • Assist in public relations efforts to showcase the Collaborative’s and related community-engaged work at Colorado College.
  • Support and contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity at Colorado College and work effectively with the many constituencies in a college environment.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
  • Act in a socially responsible manner and model environmental sustainability by exercising financial prudence, using college resources wisely, and supporting ecological initiatives and innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of related experience working with students in a higher education setting and working in or with community-based organizations; excellent organizational, collaboration and customer service skills; knowledge of principles of student development, service learning, community engagement; proficient with computer software programs such as MS Office; excellent oral and written communication skills;  ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Masters in related discipline; experience in a higher education setting supervising college students and/or implementing service-learning or community engagement programs.
