Service and Sustainability Learning Coordinator, Kapi’olani Community College (Hawai’i)

Position located at Kapi’olani Community College in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develop campus administrative procedures for identifying appropriate service-learning sites and assessment procedures that give community partners equitable voice in improving the quality of the partnerships and the depth of student learning
  2. Maintains and develops with the KCC web team a Service-Learning web page on the campus’ web site.
  3. Under supervision researches, initiates and prepares formal Memorandum of Agreements.
  4. Works with service-learning leaders and faculty at UH Manoa and Chaminade University and other colleges to develop collaborative service projects in appropriate service areas;
  5. Coordinates support services for students in the Service and Sustainability Learning program. Establishes office management procedures to coordinate the Service-and Sustainability Learning program.
  6. Maintains, develops, and increases effective, sustainable partnerships with local community-based organizations and public schools.
  7. Works with the Service and Sustainability Learning (SSL) Faculty Coordinator(s) to develop 3-year comprehensive program review, service-learning syllabi, and recruiting, orienting,and training service-learning faculty.
  8. Works with SSL Faculty Coordinator(s) and academic and student services administartors and program chairs to integrate SSL into initiatives such as international education, English as a second language, and STEM.
  9. Works with SSL Faculty Coordinator(s) and Office of Institutional Effectiveness to comprehensively assess service-learning students’ course success rates, re-enrollment, certificate and degree completion and transfer.
  10. Maintains and develops effective databases on faculty, students, community partners and schools, and strengthen issue-focused service learning pathways across liberal arts and career and technical education courses each semester.
  11. Keeps abreast of trends in sustainability and service-learning and external funding opportunities for the future growth of SSL.
  12. Leads student learning assessment through structured written, verbal, and online reflections
  13. Maintains and develops effective databases on faculty, students, community partners and schools, and strengthens issue-focused service learning pathways across liberal arts and career and technical education courses each semester.
  14. Prepares written materials, brochures, pamphlets, fact sheets to communicate, educate, expand, and develop understanding of SSL, including special report requests from administration and external funders.
  15. Works with SSL Faculty Coordinator(s) and academic and student services administrators and program chairs to integrate SSL into initiatives such as international education, English as a second language, STEM, and other college programs.
  16. Develops and supervises community engagement with the Palolo Learning Center and the Waikiki Elementary Mindful Learning Center, Develops and updates Memorandum of Agreements with these sites.
  17. Recruits, orients, and monitors service-learning students. Supervises and trains service-learning student leaders in multi-semester pathways as they coordinate campus and community SSL projects and presentations, including at conferences.
  18. Other duties as assigned
