Director, Center for Community Engagement, Wingate University (re-post)

This full-time, twelve-month position is primarily responsible for implementing, guiding, and assessing Wingate’s new sophomore, curricular, community engagement seminar which includes domestic travel (our QEP initiative). The Director will also design, develop, and support a wide range of community-engaged learning programs by performing the following duties:
• Manage the creation of an overall strategic plan for community engagement, including promoting the development of engagement pathways for students and community organizations.
• Organize a variety of faculty development workshops and seminars on community-engaged teaching and learning.
• Collaborate with faculty to develop relationships with local, regional, and national organizations for community-engaged academic programs, including identifying potential partners, recruiting partnering agencies, and developing protocols for partnership.
• Oversee the University’s application for Carnegie Community Engagement Classification.
• Manage the execution of all community engagement and marketing/communications strategies with support from the Office of Marketing and Communications.
• Develop and maintain a database of service opportunities and conduct an inventory of current needs among campus schools and departments and community organizations.
• Serve as the first point of contact for faculty, students, and community members who seek information and guidance about service opportunities.
• Raise awareness on campus about community needs, and link these needs to academic programs, student life, student organizations, and individuals, as appropriate.
• Assess the quality of University community engagement programs and initiatives.
• Work with the Office of Campus Life to coordinate co-curricular community engagement learning opportunities.
• Host open house events, inviting community organizations and leaders to campus.
• Supervise University student-workers.
The position will include the opportunity to teach academic courses. The Director will report to the Dean of Academic Enrichment Programs.

Master’s Degree required. Previous work in the classroom and administrative experience with faculty and community partners is preferred.

Salaries and benefit packages at Wingate are competitive and commensurate with experience.
