Director of Community Engagement & Service, Miami University (Ohio)

The Director of the Office of Community Engagement and Service is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of community engagement and service programming at Miami University. The Director will leverage the resources of the office to enhance and support the capacity of students, staff, and faculty related to service initiatives and work collaboratively with community partners in achieving mutually beneficial outcomes to address challenges facing communities. The Director will work with faculty in the formation and/or delivery of Service-Learning designated courses. In consultation with other stakeholders, the Director will develop overall strategic and operational scope, including establishment of program policies, incentives, best practices and key partnerships with relevant campus units and external community organizations.

The Office of Community Engagement and Service collaborates with local communities to develop and support sustainable opportunities for enhanced student learning through community engagement. It seeks to foster a campus culture that guides students effectively through community-based experiences and encourages all who serve in the local communities to think critically, understand diverse contexts, reflect and then take purposeful action.

The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.  The Director supervises the Assistant Director, Capacity Building Coordinators, Program Assistants, and student volunteers/employees.
