The Marian Cheek Jackson Center (www.jacksoncenter.info) is a small non-profit agency dedicated to honoring, renewing, and building community in Northside and Pine Knolls, historically Black neighborhoods in Chapel Hill, NC. In the last few years, opportunities to fulfill our mission have become increasingly robust. We consequently need more rigorous, comprehensive management of the organization. We are seeking a Deputy Director will assume overall leadership of organizational processes and stewardship of core activities of the MCJC.
Primary responsibilities
The Deputy Director will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, working in close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Senior Director, the Associate Director, and members of our Board of Directors. S/he will be primarily responsible for:
- Working with the full staff team to develop appropriate immediate and long-term goals and effective plans to meet them, including setting and keeping a timeline of annual benchmarks
- Working with the senior leadership team to assess and strategize organizational development
- Ensuring smooth communication and coordination across all program areas
- Improving and maintaining data, fiscal, and communications systems
- Stewarding grants and contract funding
- Managing and coaching volunteer and part-time staff, including setting and overseeing workflow protocols
- Planning and implementing organizational events, including staff, Board, and community meetings, workshops, and celebrations
- Maintaining internal policies
- Fostering a strong culture of rigor, innovation, and connection
