Civic Leadership Workshops will introduce students to politics and public service

IOPLlogo

As the 2016 election season heats up, it’s a great time for students to explore their own path to public service.

In April, college students will have a chance to learn from experts who have trained hundreds of North Carolinians for civic leadership on community boards, in community and government organizations, and in public office —
the NC Institute of Political Leadership (IOPL).

IOPL is a non-partisan, non-profit organization founded in 1987 to educate future political and community leaders in campaign strategy, ethical decision-making, and governance, consistent with the organization’s philosophy of cooperative and collaborative leadership.

College students who are interested in politics and public service are invited to attend a special collegiate political leadership training, presented by North Carolina Campus Compact. The 1-day sessions include interactive presentations on voter engagement, political values, and leadership planning, plus Q&A with a panel of elected officials.

Students choose one Saturday workshop to attend:

Leslie Garvin and NCIOPL ED Ross Harris want to help students become civic leaders.
