Director of Grants Development (Internal/External)

Location: Western Wake Campus

Position Description

This position is responsible for leading large scale federal grant projects and proposal development, including those involving strategic partnerships with external partners. Coordinates the work of development teams to identify and secure external resources that supplement and enhance college funding allotments.

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions):
* Prepares grant proposals and/or assists other college personnel in the preparation of grant proposals by providing development, writing and submission assistance.  This includes initiation of cooperative writing efforts by convening project teams of faculty and/staff to develop funding proposals
* Coordinates strategic planning meetings with division leaders, department chairs, and vice presidents to understand campus and departmental needs and gaps
* Identifies potential grant funding sources for the college to include researching funding agency priorities and legislative trends, performing analysis of Wake Tech’s resource allocation, and performing community needs assessments
Provides training for faculty and staff on grant writing procedures, proposal development, grant management practices, and grant implementation protocol so they may create their own proposals
Works collaboratively with other colleges and agencies to form grant partnerships
Assists the dean in preparation of documentation, assurances, certifications, and IRB reviews related to the submission of grant proposals
Serves on various committees as appointed
Maintains a calendar of due dates for upcoming funding opportunities

Requirements & Preferences:
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree
Three years experience in the writing and securing of large scale federal and/or state grant awards
Two years experience managing multiple projects
Experience using federal grant uploading portals, including Grants.gov and NSF Fastlane
Preferences:
Master’s degree

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Advanced skills in technical writing and grant proposal development
Ability to work under deadlines
Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, negotiation, strategic planning, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to plan, organize, and bring projects to conclusion without close supervision
