Director of Civic Engagement, University of East London

The primary responsibility for this position is to manage the operations of the Institute of Civic Engagement. This involves partnering with academic staff and students to develop and implement community-based learning projects, providing leadership and expertise in establishing and sharing best practices for community-based learning pedagogy. With academic staff, students and community partners, this person will cultivate and sustain multilayered community partnerships that give UEL opportunities to participate in a wide range of civic engagement and communitybased learning activities. The person will develop programmes and projects that allow students to learn about social and public issues as engaged citizens and through the lens of various discipline and will also engage in research and writing grants that support civic engagement. The person will develop and implement assessment programmes for community-based learning projects; writing internal and external reports on civic engagement; and raise awareness both internally and externally about UEL civic engagement initiatives. The person will also coordinate the work of Continuum and the Noon Centre to support the mission of the Institute.
