Assistant Director, Engaged Scholarship, Brown University

Brown University’s Engaged Scholars Program is a major new initiative that helps undergraduate students integrate their coursework with out-of-class learning experiences (e.g., community service, internships, and research) in order to develop and connect their learning across multiple disciplines and contexts. The Assistant Director works to advance the goals of the Engaged Scholars Program through: program planning, implementation and assessment; undergraduate student outreach, programming and advising; support to academic departments and faculty; and cultivation of alumni and community relationships. The Assistant Director collaborates with and engages a wide variety of stakeholders, including the Director of Engaged Scholarship, other Swearer Center and Dean of the College staff members, participating departments and faculty, undergraduate students, alumni, and community practitioners.

Candidates must have a B.A. (advanced degree preferred); 5-7 years’ experience in organizational management/ administration, including development & execution of strategy and organizational systems/processes, documentation, and assessment. The successful candidate will have experience communicating and working effectively with undergraduate students, faculty, and community members, as well as an understanding of and experience with departmental and faculty needs; university systems and resources; and student needs, interests, and abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high integrity, and a personal commitment to social justice are essential.
