Senior Associate for Service-Learning Program, Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice

Transformative service-learning programs are the centerpiece of the newly formed UU College of Social Justice, a collaboration of the UUA and UUSC to build the capacity of Unitarian Universalists and other allies to catalyze justice.  Reporting to the Director of the College, this position has primary responsibility for planning, developing, implementing and helping lead an expanded portfolio of service-learning programs featuring social justice programs of the UUA and UUSC as well as those of partner organizations focused on justice work of interest to UU congregations that is outside the scope of current UUA or UUSC programs.

The successful candidate will evidence significant direct experience in developing and leading service-learning programs, will possess knowledge of experiential pedagogies, and will demonstrate the leadership skills required to build an exceptional program.  Those skills will include the ability to research and adapt best practices, formulate related program policies, screen, select and develop programs with service-learning partners, and to set and achieve consistent standards for excellence in implementation.  In addition, the candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of human rights and social justice– the systemic roots of injustice including the dynamics of racism, sexism, classism and privilege; strategies for overcoming them; and successful grass roots change models.  Finally, this position is responsible for developing a practice of continuous evaluation, learning and adaptation for improved program impact.
