The Board of Illinois Campus Compact (www.illinoiscampuscompact.org) announces the search for the replacement of its current long-term Executive Director who be retiring in June 2015. The new Executive Director is expected to begin work in that same month.
The Executive Director of Illinois Campus Compact reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors, which is comprised of presidents of Illinois higher education institutions. The organization, an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit housed at DePaul University in Chicago, is affiliated with the national Campus Compact network, including 30+ similar organizations. Our membership unites over 40 public, private, two- and four-year institutions across the spectrum of higher education in Illinois.
Our mission is to support Presidents and their institutional leadership, to actively promote the civic mission of higher education and to engage students, faculty and campuses in collaborative partnerships that promote civic engagement.
It is an exciting time in campus engagement and civic learning and this is an opportunity to become a local and national leader. The Board seeks an individual who will continue the growth and diversity of the organization through innovative programming and revenue generation. The Executive Director oversees a part-time staff and volunteers. Primary responsibilities for this position include fund development and grants administration; conference/program development and management; participating and leading campus, state and regional collaborations; and consulting with individual campus leaders.
A Master’s degree, 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role, and prior training and experience with service-learning/civic engagement are required. A Ph.D. or terminal degree and a professional background in higher education or the nonprofit sector are preferred.Qualifications include:
- Proven ability and willingness to effectively work with a wide and diverse network of administrators, faculty, students and community leaders.
- Must be organized, efficient and energetic.
- Must have strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to build consensus and to demonstrate creativity in achieving the goals of the organization.
- Prior experience with voluntary board governance and management would be helpful.
