Assistant Director for Student Engagement, VT Engage, Virginia Tech

The assistant director for student engagement is responsible for overseeing co-curricular service programs at Virginia Tech and developing and implementing a robust assessment plan at VT Engage. The position is responsible for faculty development strategy as it relates to community engagement and service. The assistant director is the primary faculty presence in the SERVELLC community and teaches the LDRS 1015-1016 sequence to its members. The Assistant Director supervises a full-time staff member, graduate assistant, and student interns in support of these responsibilities. This position is a key member of the VT Engage management team and reports directly to the unit’s director.

Master’s degree in educational psychology, higher education administration, or a closely related field. Demonstrated commitment to applied and community-based pedagogies in a higher education setting. Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative program evaluation, statistics, and sound data management practices. Knowledge of student development/learning theory and application of evidence-based practice in program development and implementation. Proven track record of partnering with academic faculty and university administrators to deliver high quality programs. Experience supervising staff and/or student leaders. Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Significant evening and weekend work is required.

Experience with grantwriting, budgeting, and/or strategic planning.

Salary: $40,000-$45,000
