Assistant Director, Center for Faith and Justice, Xavier University

Xavier University, a Catholic institution in the Jesuit tradition, invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of the Center for Faith and Justice with a focus on Service, Justice and Immersion programming. Through faith formation and education for social change, we seek to equip students to live in a diverse world where faith matters and justice is imperative. Inspired by Ignatian spirituality and Catholic Social Teaching, the Center is built on the invitation to find God in all things and the principles of solidarity and the common good. The Assistant Director of Service, Justice and Immersion programs will play a vital role in this endeavor. This 12 month position has a start date of July 1, 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: advise, coordinate and empower the student Board for the Alternative Breaks program, including assistance with Board and Site leader training, strategic planning and participant recruitment; create, build and manage the Centerʼs new faith-based immersion programs; collaborate with faculty on immersion and developmental programming; assist with the Centerʼs development of Service and Justice programming; coordinate the Centerʼs efforts to promote post-graduate service to Xavierʼs undergraduate student population; represent the department in collaborative efforts across the university to enhance student learning. This position requires frequent work during nights and weekends.

Qualifications: Masterʼs degree in Social Work, Sociology, Theology, Higher Education or a related field. Two years of professional experience in a related setting. Experience working as part of a team. Three to five years of experience in working with college-age student programs and familiarity with Ignatian spirituality and Jesuit education is preferred.
