Nags Head

In North Carolina, Nags Head the edge of the East Coast, but land’s end is the beginning of a great beach retreat whether you are interested in history or water sports. Since the early 1800s, Nags Head has been attracting visitors with seaside fun including fishing off of Nags Head Fishing Pier or the Outer Banks Fishing Pier, scuba diving around shipwrecks with Outer Banks Diving, and taking dolphin tours with Kitty Hawk Water Sports. However, land-lovers can appreciate rambling walks through Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve or a look into Wright Brothers history at Kill Devil Hills, their flight testing site. Hang gliding, kite flying or one long rambling walk can be experienced at Jockey’s Ridge, the largest sand dunes on the East Coast (read Brittany Wheatley’s article on the experience here). The Nags Head experience is a step into the slow, relaxed lane of life despite the 2,800 residential population; a small town, family operated atmosphere is a change from the more commercial beach fronts, but fun for everyone is just a step away.
